As part of the SPRING  Programme– "Sustainable Production for Resilient and Inclusive New Generations", COLEAD is pleased to invite you to a collective training of trainers on " Capacity-building in training and communication techniques on Crop Protection & safe use of pesticides, Hygiene practices & traceability , Business, Nutrition and Gender" in The Gambia.

Who this training is for and what you will learn ?

Service providers: 

Trainers|Experts|Professionals with experience or a role in supporting, training or building the capacity of stakeholders in the sector with expertise in at least one of these topics : Crop protection & Safe use of pesticides/ Hygiene practices & Traceability / Business / Nutrition / Gender 


By the end of the course, participants will be able to provide advice to companies and train technical staff or extension workers involved in the horticultural sector, through collective training session or on-site training. The specific objectives of the training are:
    1. Master COLEAD's various training materials, tools and techniques
    2. Create the framework for a training sequence thanks to SIOM
    3. Evaluate learners at the end of a session
    4. Be able to coach an organisation through its project

To ensure a successful learning experience, please review the course prerequisites before registering.
The selected participant MUST:
  • Have proven experience as a trainer in adult education 
  • Have experience in the Gambian horticultural sector 
  • Located in The Gambia 
  • Have professional experience in providing technical support to cooperatives, groups, companies and/or technical departments of the Gambian ministry
  • Have a good technical knowledge in at least one of these topics :  Crop protection & Safe use of pesticides/ Hygiene practices & Traceability / Business / Nutrition / Gender
  • Be an expert with expertise in one of the following areas: Crop protection & Safe use of pesticides/ Hygiene practices & Traceability / Business / Nutrition / Gender
  • Have a good command of spoken and written English (proficiency in the local languages of The Gambia is an asset)
  • Be able to use basic digital tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), online training platforms (Moodle, Teams, Zoom), etc..)
  • Be available for the entire 6 day period of the training and willing to take part in the required exercices

Logistical conditions

Here you will find the arrangements for participant support, divided between the beneficiary organization and COLEAD, in accordance with the cost-sharing principle defined in the development project. Click on each section for details.

For the training to run smoothly, participant attendance is mandatory from the first to the last day. Any costs incurred due to the absence of registered participants will be charged to their company (meals, coffee breaks, and any necessary accommodation). It is important that each participant fully commits and actively participates. The benefits they derive from this training depend on it. All participants must adhere to the schedule indicated in the detailed training program and/or specified by the trainer(s). All participants, without exception, must sign a daily attendance sheet. Training certificates will only be issued to participants who attend the entire training session.

During certain training sessions, you will be provided with materials and training resources from COLEAD. These documents will be useful in your daily activities and for improving best practices. We ask that you keep them safe and make them available to your organization and staff.

The support provided by COLEAD to beneficiary companies and organizations is based on a cost-sharing policy between these beneficiaries and COLEAD. On this basis, COLEAD will cover:
  • Training costs (room and equipment rental, training materials, trainers' fees);
  • Meal expenses for all training days;
  • Accommodation costs are subject to certain conditions and for the training period (see point 8).

Participants will not receive any per diem or other compensation from COLEAD. The recipient organization will directly cover:

  • All other expenses that may be necessary (transportation, overnight stay and/or meals before and/or after the training, etc.).
  • Any extras (internet and phone connections, taxis, etc.) may be extra. Therefore, please bring some cash or a credit card to cover these potential expenses.

Only participants who have received prior confirmation of participation from COLEAD will benefit, within the limits of the services reserved by COLEAD and detailed below:
  • During the training days, all participants will be served on the premises of the training center: a morning and afternoon coffee break, as well as lunch.

ONLY for participants for whom COLEAD has given its prior agreement, within the strict limit of the services reserved by COLEAD.

To foster a collaborative and immersive learning environment, participants’ accommodation will be provided for the duration of the training to strengthen group cohesion, peer-to-peer learning and networking, while encouraging exchanges and collaboration beyond the formal training sessions. 


Therefore, only with prior agreement from COLEAD, COLEAD will directly cover the cost of half-board accommodation for participants, under the following conditions:
  • During the training days, these participants will be accommodated on a half-board basis in the training center/hotel selected by COLEAD. This includes overnight accommodation, breakfast and dinner.
  • Accommodation will be provided from the evening before the training until the morning after the training ends.
  • Participants will be required to comply with the services booked by COLEAD.
  • Any extras (bar, telephone, etc.) must be paid for directly by the participant.
  • Any costs incurred due to a late departure will be borne by the participant and/or their organization.

ONLY for participants for whom COLEAD has given its prior agreement, within the strict limits of the services reserved by COLEAD.

The participant's transportation costs are the responsibility of the company. Please make the necessary arrangements to ensure that your participant can attend the training. 

PARTICIPANTS WILL BE REGISTERED VALIDLY AFTER WRITTEN CONFIRMATION FROM US AND RECEIPT OF THIS LOGISTICAL NOTE. ONLY PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF THEIR PARTICIPATION WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRAINING.

To promote the best learning conditions, the number of participants in each course is limited. Therefore, you will be asked to register only if you commit to completing the entire course (attendance every day, activities to be completed, etc.). Candidates who have attended the course sessions regularly will be given priority for future courses and will receive a certificate of participation. Conversely, COLEAD reserves the right to refuse candidates for future courses if their attendance is deemed insufficient. In the event that there are insufficient participants to ensure the smooth running of a training course, COLEAD reserves the right to postpone or cancel a training course.
